Our Giant Furniture Haul

Refurbishing furniture has become one of my favorite (and dreaded) hobbies lately.  I love getting creative and thinking outside the box and making old things look new and pretty.  But, when I have something I’m unsure of it just sits in the garage all sad like, “Save me”.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?), that is what happened to these guys.

This is our GIANT furniture haul.  Shane was looking for a summer project and I stumbled upon this lot on Facebook.  Someone was giving it all away for free.  Who doesn’t love FREE things!?  How could we not take it?  We had big plans to restore and sell everything.  Then, Shane lost interest and I broke my elbow (yea, ouch) so the furniture just sat in our garage.

And sat…  And cried…

Eventually, I wanted my garage back.  It had been held hostage by this furniture for too long.  We also decided that we could actually use some of this furniture in our home instead of flipping it and selling it.  Maybe it is a good thing it sat in the garage for so long… maybe.  Here is what we ended up doing with each item:

Mirror

This is something I really wanted to transform and figure out how to use somewhere in our home.  I didn’t know how or where exactly, but after some research I finally figured it out.  Stay tuned for a mirror transformation post.

Dressers and Nightstand

We have two bedrooms that are half furnished so we decided to keep the dressers and nightstand for one room.  The nightstand drawer was broken and needed some fixing up but Dr. Shane was up to the task.  We’re still in the process of transforming these but they finally made their way out of the garage and into the bedroom.  Hooray!  Stay tuned for a dresser/nightstand post.

Shelves

I really wanted to use the shelves somewhere in my home.  I think they are so pretty and have lots of potential.  Unfortunately, there is really no space in my house where these will fit.  I started to refinish them to sell again and just lost interest (hey, it happens!).  I ended up giving them away on Facebook.

Desk and Chair

This is the only piece of furniture I knew for sure we would flip and sell.  We already have a desk so it didn’t make sense to keep in our home.  Stay tuned for a post about our desk flip.

So there you have it… our GIANT furniture haul.  I’ve done many projects over the years but never this many at once!  I’m glad they are wrapping up and am so excited to share the results with you.
